Ellington called his Sacred Concert “the most important thing I have ever done”.

He said many times that he was not trying to compose a Mass, and critic Gary Giddins characterised the work as Ellington bringing the Cotton Club revue to the church.

The choir encourages people to join their amateur choir that rehearses on Thursday evenings at Froxfield Village Hall between 7.45pm and 9.30pm and they are offering a taster session for any newcomers.
