A Meon Valley village that welcomed Winston Churchill in the run-up to D-Day is holding a month of events to mark the 80th anniversary of the milestone.

Talks, dance lessons, movie nights and steam rides are part of the programme of D-Day 80th Anniversary events devised by The Friends of Droxford Church.

The programme will begin on Thursday, May 9, with a 7.30pm talk by Tony Williams in the church about Droxford station and D-Day.

The 2017 Churchill film, starring Brian Cox, will be shown in the village hall the following Wednesday evening with Lord Ben Stoneham giving a church talk on Churchill in the Meon Valley on Thursday, May 23.

Steam rides and a showing of heritage video will be part of the Country Fair on June 1, while the fabulous Amy Baker will belt out hits from The Blitz during a Tea Dance on June 2 in the village hall, tickets £20 each.
